VeriSM Training Overview
VeriSM™ is a new service management approach to help organisations create a flexible operating model that is adaptable and can evolve over time. VeriSM describes how an organisation can define service management principles, and then use a combination of management practices to deliver value. Through this flexibility, VeriSM allows organisations to build on their traditional service management practices (like ITIL), while leveraging new ways of working such as SIAM, DevOps, Agile and Lean.
VeriSM recognises that every organisation is now a service provider. Even organisations selling products need to add a level of service to them. For example, consider online shops where the physical product is a commodity and the service is the distinguishing characteristic of the organisation. Recent years have seen an explosion of different service management practices, leaving organisations confused about the best way forward. VeriSM describes a service management approach which is:
What is the VeriSM approach?
In the VeriSM approach, governance overarches every activity, keeping a strong focus on value, outcomes and the organisation’s goals. Service management principles are then defined for the organisation. These act as guardrails, to make sure that all products and services are aligned with the needs of the organisation.
Principles are defined for areas including security, risk, quality and use of assets, and then communicated to all of the staff who are involved with the development and operation of products and services.
The unique element of the VeriSM model is the management mesh. This provides a flexible approach that can be adapted depending on the requirements for a particular product or service.
The mesh includes:
– Emerging technologies
– Management practices
For each product or service, these areas are considered and the mesh is flexed where necessary.
